 1.  Do I need to purchase travel insurance?

Of course not, but ask yourself ... do you currently have a medical provider? Why? You would want to purchase medical insurance while traveling for the same reason you have a medical provider here at home - in case you become sick or injured, you will have made provisions so you can travel worry-free. Also, you should know that your medical provider will not cover you overseas if you become sick or injured.

 2.  Are there different kinds of travel insurance?

Yes, too many! Finding the right one is like trying to read a book in the dark. Most travelers choose a package deal, which includes medical coverage, trip protection, baggage loss and medical evacuation. There are also special policies for students and yearly policies for business travelers. In addition, there are specialty plans for hazardous activities/extreme sports and much more. Feel free to call our Customer Care Hotline, e-mail us or call us at our toll free number and we will be happy to go over all of your options and then create a Custom Flex Plan for you that will meet your exact needs.

 3.  Am I covered if my provider ceases operation?

Insurance providers usually have a list of the tour companies and airlines they will cover. We can assist you in determining which provider[s] covers the tour company, cruise line and/or airlines involved in your travel plans.

 4.  Am I protected in a hurricane/weather disaster?

Many policies do not cover weather disasters, unless everything is shut down. So if planes are running and the resort is open, you'll have to take the trip or lose your money, regardless of the conditions. We would be glad to discuss this with you in more detail.

 5.  Will my insurance policy cover my luggage?

Generally, yes. For some insurance providers coverage is standard for lost, damaged, delayed or stolen luggage and with others it is optional. We can help you determine which would be best for you.

 6.  Am I covered if I get ill & need to be evacuated?

Any policy that offers evacuation and transportation benefits will transport you to the nearest medical facility and will also transport you back to your home country. If this is a consideration for you, we can be sure that criteria is included when we create a Custom Flex Plan just for you.

 7.  Am I covered if there is a terrorist attack?

Most policies cover terrorism - especially since 9/11 - but it is wise to ask the provider[s] you are considering. Some policies cover terrorism in your cities of departure and arrival, others just in the arrival city and others include connecting cities also. We can help you determine which policy would offer the most safety, depending on what part of the world you will be traveling in.

 8.  Can I cancel if my grandmother is seriously ill?

Some companies cover family members, close relatives, domestic partners and business partners. Almost all will provide you with a full refund if your travel companion becomes too ill to travel.

 9.  Are some/any pre-existing conditions covered?

A pre-existing condition is one that has been recently diagnosed or is currently being treated. It is considered a pre-existing condition from 21 days to 3 years prior to purchase, depending on the provider you choose. Some policies will waive pre-existing conditions as long as you are stable and you purchase within a certain period of time prior to departure. We will be happy to discuss this with you to help you determine which provider will best deal with your specific situation. Just contact us via our Customer Care Hotline, e-mail or toll free phone number.

10.  Am I covered if I just decide I don't want to go?

All of the providers we have chosen allow for a FULL REFUND for a specified amount of time. 11.  Who should I buy travel insurance from?

You could purchase your travel insurance through a cruise line or tour operator, but please be warned that you won't be covered if they go bankrupt. Also, many tour operators cover only trip protection, not medical insurance. Travel agents generally are only able to sell policies from one insurance company which severely limits your choices - and you may end up with costly or inadequate coverage. For these reasons the best place to purchase your travel insurance is thru a non-biased agency, such as the Jack Conte Agency, who only has your best interests in mind.

Did You Know?

  • Medicare/HMOs
  • Medical Insurance
  • Auto Insurance
  • Homeowner's Insurance

NONE of these plans will provide coverage while traveling if you are hospitalized or need to be airlifted back to your home or if your rental car is damaged or stolen.

This means that you could risk losing your life savings paying off these bills - unless you are properly insured!
