Your memories are the heart of Macon, and without your experiences, it may not be the same town it is today! Therefore we are looking to the heart of Macon - its residents, past and present - to help this site and celebration pulsate with life!

For your convenience, we have created a short online form for you to submit your living memories, stories, anecdotes, tales and stories about Macon through the past 150 years.

Your memories of Macon, its history and its residents are very important to us!

Perhaps ...

  • You have recollections of growing up in Macon?
  • Memories of special places in Macon?
  • Did you hang out at Louie’s Sweet Shop as a teenager?
  • Dance at the Moonwinks?
  • Perhaps you remember buying your first car at A.J. Noll’s?
  • Working at the 'San'?
  • Playing in the playground at the old Central School?
  • Or any of a whole host of other stories?

Perhaps some of your favorite memories of Macon are of what was happening in Macon during a famous national event such as Pearl Harbor? JFK’s assassination?

Maybe you would prefer to share the feeling of what it was like in Macon during the Depression? WWII? Vietnam? The Gulf War? 9/11?

We need your help and would very much appreciate it if you would be so kind as to share your living memories with us so we can include them in this I Remember ... section of the website, which will help everyone who visits here understand and get to know Macon just a bit better.

Use our handy Macon Memories Form and share them with us. They will be sent to a committee member for review [we will not edit content but will edit for spelling, grammar, syntax, etc - so everyone who reads your contribution will get the full impact] Then your bit of Macon will posted to this I Remember ... section. You can even attach a photo [.jpg or .gif format] - or a Word document [.doc] - for inclusion with your story!

Or, perhaps you have knowledge of a historical person or topic that we can add to our Famous Maconites or Memorable Events sections. Just fill out the short form below and send it off to us and we will proofread it, edit if necessary, and post it right here on the site.

We look forward to this celebrating this auspicious occasion with you, as it would not be as rich and meaningful without your valuable help and input.

And a BIG THANK YOU to all of you that have already sent in your wonderful stories!! Feel free to send us more!
