Course Requirements

Material Requirements for this course:

If using a Film Camera ...

  •  35mm SLR (Single Lens Reflex) Camera
  •  Camera must have at least a 50mm Lens
  •  A Flash Unit - it is acceptable if flash is built-in on camera
  •  Manual Focus capability - even if camera has Auto Focus (AF)
  •  35mm Film - 4-8 rolls at least
  •  Access to photo processing
  •  Ability to digitalize photos to be sent online - by either obtaining the photos on a CD at processing or having access to a scanner¹

If using a Digital Camera ...

  •  Digital Camera
  •  Must have Manual Focus capability - even if camera has Auto Focus (AF)
  •  Must have Manual Control of: Shutter Speed, f/stop [aperature] and Flash
  •  Ability to send in digital photos via e-mail¹

¹You may send actual photos to me for grading,
provided you include return postage, if necessary.

Cost Requirements for this course:

  •  The course is only $50 - payable via PayPal or check/money order

If using a Film Camera ...

  •  The camera outfit as described will cost ~$200 to purchase new.² Cameras can be purchased through Porter's Cameras Online Catalog - or any good local photo dealer.
  •  Cost of Film: ~ $18 - $48
  •  Cost to process film: Varies by location

If using a Digital Camera ...

  •  The digital camera as described will cost ~$400 to purchase new.² Cameras can be purchased through Porter's Cameras Online Catalog - or any good local photo dealer.
  • The make and model of the digital camera is irrelevant and you may use whichever brand you prefer - as long as it offers the features and functionality described above

²If you already own a film or digital camera that is available for the student's use - and meets all of the above requirements - there is no need to purchase a new one.

Group Discounts for Homeschooling Co-Ops, Organizations, and Groups via Multiple Usage Licenses
