About Us
Bow Wow Botanicals was founded in 1999 by Rerun - a beagle with allergies, and Rastah - a cockapoo with separation anxiety. Both were given herbs for their ailments, but since they came in powdered form, the dogs wouldn't eat them on their own. Dad Steve Rueckhaus tried many different gooey concoctions to mask the herbs in something healthy that the dogs also loved to eat - and ended up baking them into a treat. This rewarding pastime served as the impetus for Bow Wow Botanicals, after word-of-mouth among friends soon prompted strangers to call with their 'biscuit emergencies'.
Steve and his wife Stacy assembled a team of herbalists, veterinarians, dog lovers, and a pack of willing biscuit tasters, to help create and test this unique line of herbal formula treats which hit stores in mid-2001.
